Antihelix plasty without modeling sutures.

چکیده
Many techniques have been described for the surgical correction of protruding ears. A novel modification of a cartilage-sparing otoplastic technique is provided herein. In this modification, a diamond-coated file is used to abrade the anterior surface of the antihelical cartilage to create biomechanical remodeling with resultant formation of a new antihelix. A case series of 302 ears, operated on over a 3 1/2-year period, is presented in support of this technique. This procedure is appropriate for patients having firm or soft auricular cartilage, an underdeveloped antihelical ridge, and a prominent or moderate hypertrophic conchal wall.

Considerations for the Management of Cryptotia Based on the Experience of 34 Patients
BACKGROUND Cryptotia is a congenital ear deformity in which the upper pole appears buried beneath the mastoid skin. Cryptotia is a common auricular malformation among Asians. The aim of this paper is to examine the surgical techniques for and complications of 34 cryptotic patients. METHODS Surgery was performed for 34 cryptotic deformities (January 2005 to January 2012). Twenty-two patients (...
متن کاملCorrection of the prominent ear with cartilage abrasion and concha-mastoid sutures.
T he pathologic genesis of the protruding ear is a combination of the antihelix's failure to fold and some form of conchal protrusion, in which either the whole ear is tilted laterally or conchal hypertrophy exists. The corrective procedure should address both of these factors. I use a combination of techniques, including lateral cartilage surface abrasion, as originally described by Sten Stens...

Method From December 1998 to December 2013 we performed symmetric volume-reduction plasty of the left atrium (LA) in 104 patients with mitral valve disease using a technique we developed: we began the superior suture on the top of LA, above the line between the superior pulmonary veins; the right and left sutures were begun more laterally than the ostium of the inferior pulmonary veins, while o...
متن کاملCartilage splitting without stitches: technique and outcomes.
IMPORTANCE Otoplasty procedures usually involve cartilage sparing, with stitches or cartilage scoring. These techniques have been widely reviewed in the literature. The technique reported in this study requires neither stitches nor rasping but rather a complete separation of the helix and antihelix, with nontransfixing incisions to break the cartilaginous springs. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the t...
متن کاملRepairing post burn scar contractures with a rare form of Z-plasty.
BACKGROUND Although many precautions have been introduced into early burn management, post burn contractures are still significant problems in burn patients. In this study, a form of Z-plasty in combination with relaxing incision was used for the correction of contractures. METHODS Preoperatively, a Z-advancement rotation flap combined with a relaxing incision was drawn on the contracture lin...
